Which wells will the Well Watch 700 work on?
- Submersible or Line Shaft Turbine
- Casing diameter up to 24” or larger with sounding tube
- 2” FPT, adjustable with fittings
- Electric or Diesel Motors
- Polyethylene sounding tubes
Installation Points
The Well Watch 730 Probe can be installed in a number of various locations, pipe sizes and angles but here are a few tips to keep in mind.
The best place to mount the probe is on a direct access to the casing. Whether that is an access tube or an open vent hole. The closer the the actual casing the better so try to not extend that access tube out any longer than necessary.
Avoid installing the probe on access pipes that are in line with air vents. The goal is to contain the sound waves in the well. The more we can contain and push into the casing the better the readings will be.
Most wells will be vented, and that’s ok. Vents like this one are on an opposite corner of the casing and should not effect the Well Watch’s ability to get good level data.
Some installations are difficult because of the lack of annular space to mount the probe. The probe can be mounted at an angle but avoid excessive jointing in the access pipe. This creates large reflections too close to the microphone and will effect the reading. This installation was fixed by smoothing out the access pipe into a single 45 degree angle.
Sounding Tubes
This is important! For use with sonic level sensors, these tubes need to be continuous and need to run the entire length (from the probe down into the water) and must remain submerged. If the tube ends above the water or is exposed during drawdown then the Well Watch 700 will only read to the end of the sounding tube.
Some wells will need sounding tubes installed because of factors that limit the effectiveness of sonic technology:
- Perforated casing that is above the water level.
- Excessive pump noise or shaft vibrations.
- Uncased wells with large open crevices.
Sounding tubes can be 3/4″ ID to 2″ ID and we recommend poly tubing. Eno Scientific offers optional Sounding Tube Adapters that allow for easy attachment from the probe to the tubing.
